ADA SIGNAGE
There's so much to know. Accessible parking spaces must be marked by signage that includes the International Symbol of Accessibility.
Signs at van transport-accessible spaces must include the additional phrase “van-accessible". The lower edge of the sign must be at least five feet above the ground when mounting van accessible signage. This helps local enforcement insure that handycapped parking spaces are being used for the right reasons and signs can be easily seen by drivers with wheelchair vehicles. |
These accessible parking spaces, aisles, and routes on blacktop must be maintained and in good repair and kept clear of snow and ice. We can help you with that too!
"What are the ADA requirements for parking spaces" is a question we get asked all the time and we try our best to answer your questions, with an eye for budgets, and a concern for your possible liabilities for having missed rules for handicap parking spaces, apartments, painting requirements and striping dimensions.
ADA = Accessible parking space access aisles. It's not the most fun topic, or the best reading, but when the inspector walks on to your property it's nice to know all your bases are covered. |
Handicapped people are very much aware of ADA signage rules and you should be too!
We pay our workers good money for their asphalt painting skills because it really isn't an easy skill set you learn over night or we can classify just as labor. It has to be done right and by the book. Handicap parking spaces painting, even with stencils, requires timing, patience and an eye for detail. Asphalt Pros is not only our name, but it describes each and every one of our pro team to the T.
